Milk usually gives us relief from acidity fairly instantly and if the milk has been boiled and simmered for 20 minutes then it does not usually give us gas.
Another remedy for Acidity as taught by some elders is chewing half a tea spoon of cumin (zeera).
Eating fresh hot peppers with food also helps some people including myself in alleviating acidity problem.
